Got room on the schedule for another fundraiser?David Huston is a tall man with a voice made for microphones. He's taking classes at Portland State working towards degrees in business and Spanish. And he promotes some of the biggest hip-hop shows in Portland.
Huston called a couple of weeks ago to tell me about his plan to host one show a month with a charity tie-in. Shows like tonight's at Barracudas, where you can dance and help the kids. Because while we're all fixated on how terrible the situation is in Haiti, there's still need here as well.
The important info:
DJ laylow and Ozone present: "Bring a child out of the cold dance party."
Featuring: Bad Habitat, Lady w/ Matriarx and Tru Game
DJed by: DJ Mentos
Place and time: Barracudas Night Club on 2nd and Couch @ 10pm
What: A charity fundraiser benefiting Impact NW to provide the youth of Portland with support from the hip-hop community, please bring coats and toys for girls and boys.
Why: Those of us in the hip-hop community have benefited from what we do and would like to give back to our community and show a positive side of hip-hop that most don’t see, the kids are our future and if we don’t look out for them who will?
Cover: 10$ for 18-20 and 21&up is free
